LA Blockchain Summit to Feature Cosmos Virtual Booth 2021.

Cosmos, an expanding network of interconnected, independent blockchains that has secured over $140 million in digital assets, will be attending the LA Blockchain Summit, Nov 2 – Nov 4. For interactive workshops, recorded footage, informative keynotes and more, visit the Cosmos virtual booth.

The Ever-Expanding Cosmos Ecosystem

Cosmos chains can be built with developer-friendly tools such as Starport and Cosmos SDK. They are also connected to the groundbreaking IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication). We believe in interoperability, autonomy, collaboration, and innovation. This is why all the chains can self-govern, build their own communities, push upgrades at their own pace, while still being connected to the thriving ecosystem.

IBC is the Cosmos Standard for Blockchain Interoperability

The Cosmos tech stack includes many industry-leading tools, but IBC is the most important. It allows blockchains to connect and transact with each other, exchange information, and thrive. Blockchains existed before IBC in closed-ended silos that were unable to communicate. This model is not sustainable, as we have seen with increasing dApp migrations to popular blockchains.

When blockchains are unable to interoperate and expand, they become overpopulated, plagued by scaling issues, sky-high fees, and lengthy transaction times. Congestion on Ethereum, for example, is leading many applications to seek alternative layer ones (L1s) or layer two solutions (L2s).

Yet, each of these solutions requires awkward middleware (such as bridges) to communicate with each other. Cosmos provides a different vision for a connected multi-chain future with IBC, the Cosmos standard for blockchain interoperability.

Starport, Empowering Blockchain Developers

Cosmos empowers developers to build entirely autonomous application-specific blockchains that can easily connect to the growing network by using Starport, the all-in-one platform to build, launch, and maintain any crypto application on a sovereign and secured blockchain. Starport CLI is a powerful developer tool for scaffolding blockchains, generating code, running a node in development, and much, much more.

Unlike with other leading blockchains today, with Cosmos, up-and-coming blockchain projects are no longer forced to exist as smart contracts (dApps) on someone else’s chain. With Starport, they can design their own economic model with low transaction fees, and environmentally-friendly Proof-of-Stake (PoS) technology that scales for mainstream adoption.

Gravity DEX and Emeris, Enabling Cross-Chain DeFi

Gravity DEX is a powerful cross-chain decentralized exchange protocol built on the Cosmos Hub. Integrated with Emeris, the portal to all crypto apps, users can experience the power of cross-chain DeFi. They can conduct permissionless swaps and pools of digital assets between any two blockchains in the Cosmos ecosystem that have IBC enabled — that’s currently 19 blockchains with more than 1.5 million transactions in the last 30 days — and the number is constantly growing.

Launched in July of this year, the Gravity DEX protocol is a major milestone for developers as they can easily build a blockchain and get immediate price discovery on their tokens, listing them permissionlessly on the DEX. Developers don’t have to go through the hurdles and expenses of listing their tokens on a centralized exchange, which makes previously hard-to-access tokens in the Cosmos network available for more users.

Emeris, also launched this summer, is currently in beta with its public launch coming later this year. The public launch will bring additional key functionality including staking and a browser extension wallet to elevate the cross-chain DeFi experience — and we’re not stopping with Cosmos IBC-enabled chains.

Work is already underway to connect to major chains outside of our network, like Polkadot, Celo, Etheruem, and Bitcoin. Our vision is of a truly collaborative future that democratizes DeFi and makes it available for everyone with low fees and uncapped possibilities across all ecosystems.

Cosmos Signal, Delivering Updates from the Ecosystem

Cosmos Signal is a brand-new quarterly keynote to update you with all the latest news and developments from around the Cosmos ecosystem. We just released our first-ever version in which the Interchain Foundation (ICF) and Tendermint revealed a major partnership with prominent blockchain gaming platform Forte.

Through this partnership, Cosmos will work with Forte to make our interoperable technology easily available to game developers and players on the Forte platform so that they can integrate their games with the Cosmos network. With almost three billion gamers worldwide and a massive explosion of interest in NFTs, we aim to solidify Cosmos as a leading blockchain gaming ecosystem.

Check out Cosmos Signal to see what else we announced, including HackAtom VI, the biggest hackathon in Cosmos history with more than $1,000,000 in prizes in ATOM available. If you want to show us your skills and compete for your share of the prizes, be sure to register at the official hackathon website.

Visit the Cosmos Booth at LA Blockchain Summit

Find out more about Cosmos by visiting our virtual booth throughout LA Blockchain Summit. You can join in workshops from Cosmos developers and technicians, learn how to become a contributor to the network, watch informative demos and talks, and learn how to build your own blockchain application using Starport. Here is our schedule. You’ll also have the chance to see a live keynote on Nov 4 at 13:45 PST by Tendermint CEO Peng Zhong, in which he talks about building the Internet of Blockchains.

Beyond DeFi, NFTs, and gaming, we’re only just starting to see all the possibilities that this new world of blockchain interoperability, made possible with IBC, provides — from decentralized autonomous organizations to social networks, marketplaces, and the growth of the ownership economy in which everyone has a stake. Instead of one million blockchain apps competing for throughput on a single base layer, why not one million blockchain apps interconnected across one million sovereign blockchains? That’s what’s possible with Cosmos.
