Cosmos Cross-Chain Network is creating a new blockchain that allows developers to test different protocols.
Cosmos announced that its Sagan blockchain is currently under development in its quarterly keynote report, published Tuesday. In a video message, Cosmos teased the release in which it included a quote by Carl Sagan and a photo of a star-loving canary.
Canary imagery could refer to the blockchain as an experimental “canary system”, the term Polkadot uses to describe its Kusama network. Kusama uses the blockchain to allow developers to create and use a parachain, or test Polkadot governance, stake and other functions in real-world environments.
Cosmos has seen steady growth since the March launch its inter-blockchain communication protocol. This allows crypto assets to easily be transferred between compatible blockchains including those involved in decentralized finance. Mapofzones data shows that there have been 1,285,426 transactions across Cosmos in the past 30 days.
Cosmos also announced the Sagan announcement as it works on rollup scaling technology that will allow developers to create Cosmos-based Blockchains as rollups. These rollups can then be deployed as clusters within zones of the interblockchain communication protocol. Optimint is a drop-in replacement for Tendermint’s framework.
